BEST CAMPS 4 kids

Our Principal Instructor is Sorin Achim, creator of the unique "Advanced Technologies 4or Kids" STEM program and an experienced, accomplished researcher and educator.

As a robotics research engineer at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, he received the very prestigious Allen Newell Award For Research Excellence for his contribution to the design of award-winning mobile robots exhibited at many national and international robotics events (including Japan, France, South Korea, Sweden).

Sorin has appeared in one of the American Scientific Frontiers documentaries, "Natural Born Robots", and his name can be found mentioned in many publications and articles related to robotics, including the "Robo Sapiens: Evolution of a new species" book.

Together with an outstanding Carnegie Mellon University research team he has the rare honor to be featured on the cover of one of the issues of the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence Magazine (at the time American Association For Artificial Intelligence). Sorin co-authored papers published by AAAIACM, and Springer-Verlag and his work has been noted by various international, national and local media outlets.

One of the activities that Sorin has been enjoying the most over the past 17 years is creating and teaching exciting, fun-filled children-focused STEM programs with the hope that his students will be the science and technology pioneers of tomorrow. These programs are developed in collaboration with various local educational institutions and organizations including top universities, public, private, and parochial schools, community centers, libraries, and science centers.

Hundreds of kids have already participated in countless "Advanced Technologies 4or Kids" STEM activities and many of them were later accepted into prestigious engineering programs, including M.I.T and Stanford.

Sorin has worked extensively with parents who opt for home-school education and collaborated with organizations that implement Montessori and other alternative educational programs. His efforts as a FIRST LEGO League Coach have been recognized by Dean Kamen, FIRST LEGO League founder. As a tutor and mentor, Sorin has helped many students to become the best that they can be, both in school and in their personal lives.
